Elon Musk Pledges $1 Million a Day to Support U.S. Constitution Ahead of Election

Elon Musk Pledges to Give $1 Million a Day to Support U.S. Constitution

Billionaire Elon Musk announced on Saturday that he will give away $1 million each day until the U.S. presidential election in November to someone who signs his online petition supporting the U.S. Constitution. Musk wasted no time, awarding the first $1 million check to John Dreher, a random attendee at an event in Pennsylvania aimed at rallying support for Republican candidate Donald Trump.

“John had no idea. So anyway, you’re welcome,” Musk said as he handed over the check at the event.

Musk’s Growing Influence in the Election

Musk’s recent actions are part of a broader effort to influence the tightly contested presidential race between Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Musk has increasingly used his wealth to back Trump, creating America PAC, a political action committee supporting Trump’s campaign. The PAC is working to mobilise voters, particularly in battleground states like Pennsylvania.

The Harrisburg event was Musk’s third rally in Pennsylvania in as many days. He framed the election in stark terms, encouraging early voting and painting a bleak picture if Harris wins. Musk even suggested that if Harris wins, it could be “the last election” for the U.S.

Musk also controversially referenced the two assassination attempts on Trump, arguing that they prove Trump is challenging the status quo, whereas Harris, whom he called a “puppet,” faces no such threat. “Assassinating a puppet is worthless,” he said, echoing previous statements made on social media.

Petition Supporting the First and Second Amendments

Attendees at the Pennsylvania event were required to sign Musk’s petition in support of the First and Second Amendments. The petition reads: “The First and Second Amendments guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. By signing below, I am pledging my support for the First and Second Amendments.”

This petition aligns with Musk’s vocal advocacy for free speech and gun rights, topics he has emphasised in recent months.

    Financial Backing of Trump’s Campaign

According to federal filings, Musk has contributed at least $75 million to America PAC, making the group a vital component of Trump’s effort to regain the White House. Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has increasingly aligned himself with Republican causes in recent years, becoming an outspoken Trump supporter during the 2024 campaign.

In response, Trump has pledged that if re-elected, he would appoint Musk to lead a government efficiency commission.
