IN-SPACe Announces Opportunities for Startups converging at Agritech and Spacetech

Team InterstellarBy Team InterstellarApril 11, 2023 Science No Comments2 Mins Read

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has been created to promote and supervise non-government entities (NGEs) in their space activities. IN-SPACe aims to promote the benefits of space exploration and applications to the general public. The organization is pleased to announce exciting opportunities to innovate in the agriculture sector in India by leveraging space technology.

As the demand for food increases globally, it is essential to develop sustainable and efficient solutions to meet this demand. Space technology has enormous potential for improving agricultural practices and contributing to a more sustainable food system. By using space data, satellites, drones, and other advanced technologies, we can develop new tools and strategies to help farmers improve crop yields, reduce environmental impact, and optimise their use of resources.

IN-SPACe has launched a seed fund scheme for startups interested in exploring opportunities in the agriculture sector using space technology. General guidelines for the scheme are available on the IN-SPACe digital platform (IDP), and interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.inspace.gov.in. The application submission process will open after the kick-off webinar for the “Announcement of Opportunities in Agriculture Sector using Space Technology” planned for April 20, 2023. The last date to submit completed applications is May 21, 2023.

Startups with innovative ideas that use space technology to drive progress and improve the quality of life for people and communities around the world are welcome to apply. Some areas of opportunity in the agriculture sector for space startups are

    • Crop Production Forecasting
    • Crop Insurance
    • Precision Farming
    • Farming-as-a-Service
    • Autonomous Harvesting
    • Crop Monitoring
    • Drought and Flood Analysis
    • Irrigation and Water Management
    • Inland Fisheries
    • Pest/Diseases Detection and Incidence Forecasting
    • Sustainable Development at Macro and Micro Levels
    • Logistics and Storage Management

The details are provided along with the announcement and with application submission and evaluation criteria. IN-SPACe looks forward to receiving applications and helping create a more sustainable and efficient food system in India.
