    Indian Navy and NARL Sign MoU to Advance Atmospheric Data Analysis

    Indian Navy and NARL Collaborate on Atmospheric Science

    The Indian Navy, represented by its Directorate of Naval Oceanology and Meteorology (DNOM), has partnered with the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) under the Department of Space, Government of India. This collaboration focuses on leveraging the latest advancements in atmospheric science to enhance naval capabilities.


    Memorandum of Understanding Signed

    On 23 December 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at NARL’s Gadanki facility. Commodore Abhinav Barve, representing DNOM, and Dr Amit Kumar Patra, Director of NARL, formalised the agreement. The signing took place at 1500 IST, highlighting a significant step in knowledge-sharing and technical collaboration between the two entities.

    Focus Areas of the Partnership

    Through this MoU, DNOM aims to utilise NARL’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise in atmospheric sciences. This includes:

    • Developing advanced tools for atmospheric data analysis to support Indian Navy operations.
    • Enhancing the skills of naval personnel by providing access to cutting-edge research and training opportunities.

    This initiative aligns with the Navy’s goal to integrate scientific advancements into its operations, ensuring preparedness and efficiency in diverse maritime environments.

    This collaboration underscores India’s commitment to fostering partnerships between its defence and scientific communities to address complex challenges and strengthen national capabilities.
